The Grand Alpine Road

Val Cenis on the « Grand Alpine Road »

The evocative names of Iseran or Mont Cenis recall memories connected to history and the alpine inheritance of the region.

Since 1937 the Grand Alpine Route, a prestigious thoroughfare, has covered the 700 kilometres from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea, incorporating 16 great alpine passes, of which the Iseran Pass is the highest road pass in Europe.

Join the road at Mont Cenis, a gateway to Italy, and continue to Susa or Turin to sample and enjoy Italian culture.
