Val Cenis Tango Festival
Vibrate to the rhythm of Argentine tango at Val Cenis
The Val Cenis Tango Festival is a tribute to Val Cenis ' distant Latin American "cousins" through the music and dance of these countries.
The Tango Festival celebrates the intimate, family and historical ties between Val Cenis and Latin America. Every summer, we welcome renowned maestros, orchestras and DJs to give this event an international dimension.
Dance classes, tango aperitifs, shows and milongas, with the highlight of the week eagerly awaited by regulars: the "Milonga de las Nubes" - Milonga of the Clouds - on the Mont-Cenis pass at 2,100 m altitude.

The artists
The Maestros

Audrey and Patrice
In 2017, Audrey Anselmi and Patrice Barthès met on the dance floor at a milonga, a tango dance.
Both have extensive training and professional backgrounds. They worked as choreographers and performers in contemporary dance before becoming what they are today: masters of Argentine tango.
They decided to form A&B Tango, a dance duo that serves as the foundation for a choreographic company based in Montpellier. Tango brings a fresh perspective to the work of both artists. They use this choreographic vocabulary to create resolutely contemporary pieces. They possess a highly refined tango technique, which they apply to the projects they choreograph, often collaborating with musicians to highlight this deeply symbiotic relationship with music. They frequently present works in the form of dance performances in public spaces. They have also worked with major orchestras, accompanying the Fiesta Latina tour of master accordionist Pascal Contet.
They explore the various facets of Argentine tango, from the most spectacular to the most intimate, and from the most traditional to the most contemporary.
DJs

DJ Perrine
With her sparkling energy, Perrine performs in a traditional style. She is attentive to the needs of the dancers, and to the service of the ronda. She also likes to choose her cortinas as nods to our histories, highlighting her carefully crafted tandas.

DJ Paola Pia
Paola Pia has been dancing tango for 25 years. A tango DJ since 2001, she performs at the best milongas in Turin and other Italian cities. She is often invited to events, festivals, encuentros and marathons all over Europe. She likes to propose a very varied musical selection, ranging from the 1930s to the 1960s, complemented by contemporary orchestras.

DJ Padem
Patrick's aim is to ensure that his musical choices, offered live, enhance the pleasure of each individual tenfold and leave the memory of a beautiful milonga. He likes to take couples on gentle or rhythmic musical waves, drawing mainly from the 30s to the 60s and including a few contemporary orchestras. Whether the tangos he chooses are instrumental or sung, he is very attached to tradition. A DJ for 12 years, he hosts festivals, encuentros and marathons in France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Latvia and Uruguay.

BRUNO Giorgio Tdj
In 2006, Giorgio took up Argentine tango and began studying its culture, traditions and dance. While dancing, Giorgio developed a passion for music, in particular that of the orchestras of the "greats": Biagi, Calò, Canaro, D'Agostino, D'Arienzo, De Angelis, De Caro, Demare, Di Sarli, Donato, Fresedo, Lomuto, Pugliese, Tanturi, Troilo. Giorgio has taken part in in-depth musical workshops with DJs Marcelo Rojas, Damian Boggio, Daniel Pereyra, Punto y Branca.
The show

A Touch of Tango
A 60-minute show that immerses you in the sensory intensity of tango, where every note and every movement stirs an emotion. A journey where thrills, laughter, and poetry intertwine, creating an unforgettable experience.
The challenge: to breathe new life into the art of tango without betraying its essence. A challenge met through a repertoire firmly rooted in Latin American culture, yet open to contemporary music and even French chanson, as well as choreography with a contemporary aesthetic.
Why a tango festival at Val Cenis ?
A festival born of exile, family ties... and reunion
The Val Cenis Tango Festival pays homage to the deep-rooted ties between Val Cenis and Latin America. In the 19th century, the opening of the Modane rail tunnel diverted passenger traffic away from the Mont Cenis pass, until then a strategic route between France and Italy. This economic change prompted many families from Lanslebourg (one of the Val Cenis villages) to emigrate to Argentina and Uruguay, in search of new opportunities.
A century and a half later, the descendants of these emigrants have renewed ties with their homeland at major reunions organized on both sides of the Atlantic. The Val Cenis Tango Festival was born of this moving story of migration and transmission. A warm and festive way to celebrate these shared roots... and to make the mountains vibrate to the rhythm of the bandoneon.
