Nature and ski resorts: a theme with a long history at Val Cenis

- Val Cenis, the 2nd largest commune in mainland France, boasts a wealth of protected communal territory (50% is in protected areas). Only 1% is devoted to skiable terrain.
- Val Cenis is located in the heart of the Vanoise National Park.
- Since 2014, the Val Cenis ski area has been equipped with an environmental observatory to better understand and thus better preserve the exceptional natural heritage of its territory.
- Val Cenis is the first resort in the Maurienne to be awarded the Flocon Vert label. In November 2021, Val Cenis was awarded the "Flocon Vert" label by the Mountain Riders association. This marks the start of a collective adventure to make Val Cenis a sustainable destination, reconciling economic activities with respect for the environment.
