Val Cenis, 1st resort in the Maurienne to receive the Flocon Vert label
On Friday, November 26, 2021, the Val Cenis resort obtained the " Green Snowflake "awarded by the association Mountain riders.
This is the beginning of a collective adventure to make Val Cenis a sustainable destination, reconciling economic activities and respect for the environment.
The label was obtained for a period of 3 years, with an intermediate audit. This is the beginning of a process whose objective is, of course, continuous improvement!
This is why the 1st edition of the "Nature & Ski in Val Cenis" event took place last winter.
The strong points of the station
that mark the distinction!- A WWTP
A wastewater treatment plant by phyto-treatment with local plants from Mont Cenis.
- Support to agriculture through GIDA
Diversification of agricultural activities and irrigation systems.
- The Children's House
A service to families committed to waste reduction, and offered to children with disabilities without making any difference to the activities.
- The advance fee system
The earlier the visitor buys a season or stay package, the more advantageous the package price.
Morgane Gauché
Communication officer for the Val Cenis ski areaWhy this event, this winter?
"This is an event that the Domaine Skiable has been planning for several years now. It follows the conference-debates organized every winter in Val Cenis on the theme of tourism and the environment. The project was mature and the obtaining of the Green Snowflake label in November 2021 has reinforced our position. In fact, raising visitors' awareness is one of the key themes that emerged during the working groups carried out as part of the Flocon Vert approach. The creation of this event is therefore one of the concrete actions put in place".
What are the expectations for the resort?
"The resort has the heart to educate its customers (families and children in particular) to the local environment, because better knowledge is better respect. It also wishes to make known all the actions that have been carried out for the protection of the environment in Val Cenis for many years".
Can you imagine what happens next?
"I hope this edition is just the beginning of a great adventure! The goal would be to extend this "Nature & Ski" event to a full week for future editions. This first edition is a shorter version that will allow us to test the format and content to see if it meets the expectations of customers."
