Mont Cenis: road opening and closing

The Col du Mont Cenis, and the road into Italy from Val Cenis to Susa and Turin, is open to traffic from the 2nd Friday in May to the 2nd Monday in November. In winter, the road is transformed into a ski slope!

Scheduled opening of the access road to the Mont Cenis pass (2081 m altitude), and to Italy: Friday May 9, 2025* (2nd Friday in May).

Between France and Italy, the Mont-Cenis plateau stretches to an altitude of 2,000 meters. This exceptional site offers a breathtaking panorama, with its immense turquoise lake, unspoilt mountain pastures, ancient French and Italian forts and peaks rising to over 3,000 metres.

Route du Mont Cenis closed since November 12, 2024

In winter, the access road to the Mont Cenis pass is closed to traffic. It is transformed into a ski run: L'Escargot, Europe's longest green ski run at 11km.

Normally, the road to the Mont Cenis pass is closed from the 2nd Friday in November. For the 24-25 season, the road has been closed since November 12, 2024.

Scheduled to reopen to vehicular traffic on 2ᵉ Friday in May.
