• 3/ Leave your cozy nest at dawn to explore the heart of an unspoiled region. As you approach Plan du Lac, you’ll find yourself transported to the world of the Vanoise glaciers. After an encounter with Dame Marmotte, who keeps a watchful eye on you, you’ll cover the miles with ease. Keep a close watch for the large boulders that serve as a home for chamois and ibex. The Refuge de la Femma marks the entrance to an unexpected world of rock formations. Cross the Col de la Rocheure and you’ll find yourself on a journey to the “end of the world” at nearly 3,000 meters. The final descent to the Fond des Fours hut will go smoothly if the trail isn’t covered by snow, which often lingers until July. Here you are at the border between Haute Maurienne and Tarentaise.
