Ambin refuge trail

Val-Cenis
Ambin refuge trail - OTHMV - J. CATHALA

A protective and secret valley where you'll find peace and tranquillity.
Opt for this route if you want to avoid busy peaks and passes. Though it
looks remote and inaccessible, this welcoming refuge opens its doors to
you without difficulty. Ready for something new?

Description

Like an explorer of unspoiled lands, you make your way tentatively between
Rocher d'Étache and Dents d'Ambin in the wilderness of this little-known
valley. Dotted here and there, random rocks stand as witness to the whims
of raw nature. The torrent is lord and master of the place. Pool after pool,
it honours you with its most beautiful palette of blues: azure, turquoise,
blue-gray... The sun plays hide-and-seek with the passing clouds and, who
knows, it might invent a new colour.
The marmots are clued-up and, when they emerge from their burrows, they
love to lounge around without a care in the world, not even stirring when
herds pass by. The chamois you may catch a glimpse of on the scree slopes
on the left bank also share this exhilarating freedom.
Before you get to your well-deserved snack stop, enjoy heart-stopping view
as you climb to the refuge surrounded by boundless space.
