"Gold, Colors, and Light" Guided Tours
Join Armelle, a heritage restorer, as she reveals the secrets of the journeymen painters who worked on our chapels and the ancient techniques of painted decoration.
Description
From chapel to church, follow in the footsteps of 15th-century journeymen painters.
Lime, pigments, gold—the materials used in painted decoration will be presented to you, along with how they were applied in the chapels of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Sebastian.
During this tour, I’ll show you all the little details and secrets behind the creation of a monumental fresco! You’ll get to touch the pigments, the lime, and the sand, and you’ll be able to pass around the very special brushes I use for my work: “queue à battre,” “blaireau,” “double mèche,” “brosse à marbrer,” etc...
