  • From Paris to Val Cenis train (via Modane): a direct TGV takes you to Modane in about 4 hours, and a bus then takes you to Val Cenis about 30 minutes
  • Lyon: about 2.5 hours by train
  • Chambéry: about 1 hour by TGV or 1 hour and 15 minutes by TER

When you arrive in Modane, take the Haute Maurienne bus network Val Cenis .

Once you arrive at the Modane train station, there are several options available to help you reach your destination.

Bus from Modane to Val Cenis

The S53 bus route connects Modane Station with the villages of Val Cenis

  • Service to Bramans, Sollières-Sardières, Termignon, Lanslebourg, and Lanslevillard
  • The trip takes between 30 and 45 minutes
  • There are several departures throughout the day (schedules vary by season and are coordinated with train schedules)

⚠️ During the winter months, especially on weekends, it is recommended that you plan ahead and reserve your spot

Unlimited access to the S50, S51, S52, and S53 buses, which serve the entire region from Modane, is included with your Val Cenis or longer ski pass from Sunday through Friday!

Please note: for safety reasons (speed of evacuation), you cannot keep your ski or snowboard boots on your feet on buses S50, S51, S52 and S53. You can put them in the hold with your ski/snowboard and poles. Cross-country ski boots allowed.

Free shuttle buses to Val Cenis

In winter, free buses run between the five villages of Val Cenis

  • Line B between Termignon and Bramans: it provides access to the Planay Nordic ski area
  • Line C1 connects Termignon, Lanslebourg, and Lanslevillard
  • The C2 line runs between Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard and provides easy access to the ski lift stations (La Ramasse, Le Vieux Moulin, La Colomba, Val Cenis Haut)
  • Line D connects Sollières to the Termignon base area via a "little train"

Getting around on foot or by bike from Val Cenis

  • Many hiking trails are accessible directly from the villages, such as the Vanoise Glacier Loop
  • Direct access to Vanoise National Park
  • Whether you're riding a bike or a mountain bike, there are plenty of routes to choose from! Also, keep in mind that the S52 and S53 bus lines are equipped to carry bicycles

 

Getting Around by Bus in Haute Maurienne

The transit system makes it easy to explore:

  • Alpine mountain passes and panoramic views (Mont Cenis, Col de l’Iseran, etc.)
  • The typical villages of the valley, such as Bonneval-sur-Arc
  • Iconic sites (the Esseillon forts, the GR5 trail, etc.)

To purchase your bus tickets, you can buy them directly from the bus driver, at the tourist office, or at the cantonal office in Modane.
