Critérium du Dauphiné 2025: Val Cenis, stage 8, an exceptional finale!

On Sunday June 15, 2025, Val Cenis will host the final finish of the Critérium du Dauphiné, one of the most prestigious races on the international cycling calendar. Renowned for its demanding stages and mythical mountain passes, the Critérium 2025 will come to an apotheosis in Val Cenis, with the ascent of the Col du Mont Cenis on stage 8.

Val Cenis, a prestigious final finish

The final day of the Critérium du Dauphiné 2025 will start in Val-d'Arc and finish in Val Cenis.

133 kilometers for climbers and puncheurs: côtes d'Aiton et de Saint-Georges d'Hurtières, col de Beaune, then, in Haute Maurienne Vanoise, climbs of Saint André and Aussois before the final finish in Val Cenis.

The final attacks and breakaways of this year's race will take place on the road to Mont Cenis. A 9.6 km climb with an average gradient of 6.9% before crossing the Col du Mont Cenis, at an altitude of 2,000 meters, and arriving at the exceptional site of the Mont Cenis plateau (Plan des Fontainettes, next to the Pyramide).

Road closures and access to Mont Cenis

Col du Mont Cenis (RD1006 between Val Cenis and the Mont Cenis dam): road closed to vehicular traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to allow assembly and dismantling of the finish area.
Please note: camping-car parking is prohibited throughout the finish area from June 1 (parking at Les Fontainettes reserved for race vehicles).

The race route is closed to traffic 1 hour before the runners pass.

Reaching the Mont Cenis plateau

From Val Cenis(France side)

- By bike: route open to bikes until 3:30pm.
-On foot: via the chemin de la Ramasse (start opposite the Val Cenis Tourist Office).
-By chairlift: the Ramasse chairlift will be open free of charge from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm (ascent) and from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm (descent). The number of places on the chairlift is limited for safety reasons. Priority is given to families with children under 12 and to senior citizens.

All day long, Val Cenis will be vibrating to the rhythm of the Critérium du Dauphiné 2025!

The must-see spots to make the most of this last stage:

The Col du Mont Cenis
An exceptional vantage point from which to watch the riders pass by at around 4:50 pm, just after the final climb. On-site: fan zone with giant screen to follow the stage live from 3:30pm, distribution of collector flags, catering, toilets. Access by bike, on foot, or via the La Ramasse chairlift (limited chairlift access, priority given to families with children and the elderly).

The atmosphere will be at its peak when the racers arrive at around 4:55pm! On-site: giant screen, catering, toilets. Access on foot or by bike.

The Critérium du Dauphiné is a benchmark race for climbers and contenders for the Tour de France Yellow Jersey. Among the headliners expected at this year's Critérium du Dauphiné are some of the biggest names in world cycling:
  • Tadej Pogacar (Tour de France 2024 winner)
  • Jonas Vingegaard (Tour de France 2023 and 2022 winner)
  • Remco Evenepoel (Olympic road and time trial champion 2024)
  • Mathieu Van der Poel (three-time winner of Paris-Roubaix)

This stage will also have a special flavor with the presence of Romain Bardet, who will be racing the very first day of his professional road career in Val Cenis . A unique opportunity for fans to pay tribute to the best climber of the 2019 Tour.
