Energy management for ski lifts

Optimizing resources

Ski lifts are used every day by skiers. Indispensable to the resort experience, they also represent a major source of electricity consumption.

The Val Cenis ski area has implemented innovative solutions to reduce their impact: energy management to adjust consumption in real time according to visitor numbers, heat recovery...

Protecting flora and fauna

Black grouse zones in the heart of the slopes

Preserving biodiversity, flora and fauna, is a key priority for Val Cenis. The ski area is developed taking into account local ecosystemsin collaboration with specialized ecologists and the Vanoise National Park.

In the heart of the Val Cenis ski area, for example, areas where the black grouse lives have been identified. To preserve this emblematic Alpine bird, which huddles in "igloos" to protect itself from the cold in winter, these areas are now off-limits to skiers and winter activities.

100% electric groomer

An innovation tested in Val Cenis

Always looking for the best solutions to offer sustainable skiing, Val Cenis innovated in 2023 by putting into operation a 100% electric snow groomer.

This ambitious project, carried out in partnership with the manufacturer Prinoth, lasted 3 years and enabled the practical testing of a 100% electric machine in the field.

Roches-Blanches chairlift

A new chairlift made from recycled material

Les Roches Blanches

To meet the challenges of climate change, preserve the exceptional natural environment of Haute Maurienne Vanoise and offer a high-quality outdoor experience (skiing in winter, hiking and mountain biking in summer), the Val Cenis ski area has set up an innovative project to renew the Roches Blanches chairlift in 2024.

This chairlift was built using 90% recycled materials. This circular economy project was also designed to limit the impact on flora and fauna, with work carried out after the bird nesting season.
