In the heart of Haute Maurienne Vanoise nestles the church of Saint-Pierre d'Extravache, considered to be the oldest church in Savoie. Built in the 11th century, it marks the beginning of Christianity in the valley.

  • 1/ The route starts at the Cernay hut. Follow the groomed trail uphill, shared with cross-country skiers. Leave this trail and walk under the trees to the top of the loop, before reaching Saint-Pierre d'Extravache.
    2/ 0 h 20 - At the intersection, head towards the church of Saint-Pierre d'Extravache. Take advantage of this viewpoint to admire the view and discover one of the oldest churches in Savoie.
    3/ 0 h 30 - From the church, start the descent to Cernay.
    4/ 0 h 45 - The Cernay hut.
